Shohei Ohtani consistently puts on a performance for his fans that they have never seen before. He did it once more on Monday night for the Camden Yards fans, hitting a home run to center field, a location that the Orioles broadcasters made sure to point out very infrequently.
Stunning advanced numbers from the Statcast darling slugger include the breathtaking Ohtani blast’s 456-foot height and initial speed of 114.6 mph. It was matched for the season’s longest home run at Camden Yards.
Ohtani also started this game on the mound, where he did give up two home runs, but the three-run shot in the fourth inning gave him some breathing room. It was the first time this year that he has homered while pitching, which brought his total to six in his MLB career.
