Three killed, multiple wounded in yet another US shooting

Following a shooting in New Mexico, in the United States, at least three fatalities and numerous injuries have been confirmed. In a statement, the San Juan county sheriff’s office acknowledged the occurrence.

Police added that two officers were shot while stating that the suspect was deceased. Monday morning, a gunshot took place close to a public park.

“At this time, the details we have are that multiple officers from the Farmington Police Department were involved in an officer-involved shooting. One suspect was confronted and killed on the scene,” the statement reads.

“The suspect’s identity is unknown and there are no other known threats at this time.

“Two officers were shot, one from the Farmington Police Department and one from New Mexico State Police, both currently at San Juan Regional Medical Center being treated for their injuries and in stable condition.

“There are numerous civilian casualties, including at least three fatalities. As soon as further information becomes available, we’ll let you know.

Residents were urged by the police to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

According to Roberto Taboada, a spokesman for Farmington Municipal Schools, schools in the region were placed on a “preventative lockdown,” which means regular school operations continued but no one was permitted outside and parents may pick up youngsters.
