16-year old hospitalized following shooting in Springfield

A gunshot occurred in Springfield on Friday night, and a 16-year-old is now in the hospital.

According to Springfield Police, officers and medical personnel responded to first reports of a gunshot near Davey Moore Park in the 600 block of South Western Avenue around 8:11 p.m.

According to reports, a 16-year-old kid was shot in the elbow, and medical personnel took him to Springfield Regional Hospital.

The teen’s wounds are not life-threatening.

Initial scanner traffic revealed that there were multiple casings in the vicinity.
