On Thursday night, a missing toddler’s body was discovered in what seemed to be well on the grounds of a daycare just north of Cobourg, Ontario on May 25, 2023. The 2-year-old toddler has been identified as Vienna Irwin.
Following a significant police presence outside of the “Watch Me Grow Day Care” on County Road 45 (Baltimore Road), in the hamlet of Baltimore, a few kilometers north of Cobourg, the body of the young girl was later found.
Northumberland OPP would only confirm that a child was reported missing “from an address in Hamilton Township” at 5:17 p.m. Thursday and that “the child was subsequently located deceased at the address.”
According to Brettell, paramedics started CPR as soon as the toddler was freed by emergency personnel. An OPP-led emergency drive resulted in an ambulance transporting the young woman to the neighboring Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg.
The majority of Thursday evening was spent by police conducting an investigation.
Pam Fessell, a neighbor, claims that when she heard about the missing toddler, she and others sprang into the hunt.
“I turned around and there was a firetruck here within minutes and all kinds of people,” she told Global News Peterborough. “So we all helped with the search and everything.”
Vienna Irwin was described as the most beautiful and sweetest little girl and in her short time here on earth touched so many. This tragic and sudden loss has rocked the Irwin family and everyone in our small community. I am sure you can all imagine this has left Claire, Clay, Bill, Deb, Shari Russell, Lauren, Travis, Blake, Mikayla, Amber, Brock, Alisha Carr, and Vienna’s 3 cousins Keaton, Wyatt, and Logan in a state of mourning.
