Specialist (SPC) Zachary Zamot, an active-duty Army soldier from Rockland County stationed with the 160th Aviation Special Forces Group in Fort Campbell, KY, passed on Friday, May 19, 2023. The Ramapo High School alumnus was a “Night Stalker,” which means that he worked as a 15 P (Flight operations specialist) with the 160th Aviation Special Forces Group. These are highly skilled and specialized soldiers that undertake extremely risky operations.
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and Clarkstown Police Department will accompany SPC Zamot’s family from the airport to Vanderplatt Funeral Home in Wykoff, New Jersey, where funeral services will be performed on Friday, after the body’s arrival in Newark on Thursday. In observance of this hero’s passing, County Executive Ed Day has ordered all flags at the County of Rockland will be at half-staff Friday.
