Large fight triggers false report of shooting at Carolina Place Mall

Police were called after a significant altercation at Carolina Place Mall on Saturday night.

Police were contacted in response to a fictitious allegation of a shooting at the mall at around 6 o’clock, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. While authorities were in route, the mall was placed on lockdown.

Prior to their arrival, the Pineville Police Department informed the CMPD that there had been no shooting.

No guns were fired during the extensive battle that broke out in the mall, according to the police.

In addition, the lockdown was ended.

If anyone will be charged, Channel 9 has enquired with Pineville police. The mall has also been contacted by us for comment.
