In Aldie, Virginia, two persons were murdered on Sunday after a motorbike veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a pickup truck hauling a horse trailer.

The SUV was struck on James Monroe Highway at Tail Race Road by a pickup truck that lost control, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Pedro J. Sera-Leyva, 68, of Leesburg, Virginia, the SUV’s driver, was declared dead at the site. Thomas A. Miller, 61, of Charles Town, West Virginia, who was riding the motorcycle, was also declared dead at the site.

According to the sheriff’s office, the pickup truck driver was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The mishap did not cause any harm to the animals.

Virginia State Police and Loudoun County Animal Services assisted in the response.
