Tyler Ford, New Jersey Department of Corrections Officer unexpectedly died in motorcycle accident

Tyler Ford, a New Jersey Department of Corrections Officer unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Tyler suddenly died after being involved in a fatal motorcycle accident on Sunday. He succumbed to the injuries sustained from the incident.

Sergeant Ford started his career in the Department in 2014 as an officer at Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility before transferring to New Jersey State Prison. What he enjoys most about his is the opportunity to help make the officer’s jobs easier and set a good example for all staff, which in return, makes a better work environment for everyone.

The circumstance behind Sergeant Ford’s death is currently unknown to the public as no family member has released a statement.

Working at the NJDOC is a family legacy for Sergeant Ford. His grandfather retired from the Department as a Lieutenant at New Jersey State Prison. His father also retired as an Officer from New Jersey State Prison, and his mother currently works at COHQ with 36 years of service.

Sergeant Ford knew from a young age that someday he would like to work for the Department too. At 20 years old, he had the opportunity to attend the academy and start his career with the NJDOC and fulfill his family legacy.

Sergeant Ford attended Conwell-Egan Catholic High School, he was previously an Operations counselor at Community Education Centers.
