The cause of John Regala’s death on June 3 was “multiple ailments,” according to his friends and family. He was 55. Veteran entertainment journalist Aster Amoyo announced the actor’s passing on her Facebook page.
“Veteran actor John Regala (John Paul Guido Boucher Scherrer) died this morning at 6:00 am due to multiple ailments. Let us all pray for the eternal repose of his soul,” Amoyo said, along with Regala’s photo.
A frail Regala who had severe gout and liver cirrhosis made headlines in 2020 when he requested assistance from a meal delivery rider. Amoyo, Nadia Montenegro, and Chuckie Dreyfus, three more famous people who helped Regala at the time, created a fundraising page for the actor’s medical needs.
In addition to “Isa-Isahin Ko Kayo” (1990), “Bukas Bibitayin si Itay” (1995), “Askal” (1997), and “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” (2011), Regala starred in several other movies. He also made an appearance in the ABS-CBN television program “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
