Dave Scherping, Morrison County Deputy killed in motorcycle accident in Sherburne County

Former Morrison County Deputy Dave Scherping unexpectedly passed away in a motorcycle accident in Sherburne County on Saturday, June 3, 2023. For many years, Dave Scherping served as a deputy and K-9 handler for our county. Austin Scherping, a current Morrison County K-9 handler, is Dave’s son. The details of the tragic incident has not been released yet.

Morrison County Sheriff’s Office released a statement yesterday, Saturday, June 3, on its official Facebook page;

Today we lost a former Morrison County Deputy Dave Scherping, to a motorcycle accident in Sherburne County. Dave Scherping was a Deputy and K-9 handler for our county for a number of years. Dave is the father of current Morrison County K-9 handler Austin Scherping. Please keep Dave’s family and Austin in your thoughts and prayers. God’s peace Dave, we love you brother, #109/David Scherping, Rest in Peace.

McDonough K9 paid tributes to Dave Scherping on a Facebook post, “Today we Lost one of the good ones to a motorcycle accident. Dave was a retired K-9 handler who was a father a grandpa and one hell of a good man and our dear dear friend We feel so Sorry for the Sherping family as they mourn this great loss. Dave is seen in this photo holding his grandchild and standing next to his son who took over where his father left off in K-9. God Speed my brother until we meet again and in Valhalla.”
