Former Camp Counselor at Southfield Parks & Recreation, Mia Kanu unexpectedly died after being involved in a fatal car accident on Monday, June 5, 2023. Mia succumbed to the injuries sustained from the traffic collision. Mia was a longtime resident of Southfield, Michigan.
Bianca Malia, Mia’s sister announced her death on her Facebook account on Monday, Bianca wrote “It is with great sadness that my family announce the death of my beautiful first sweet baby Mia Amelia. She was in a tragic accident and was pronounced dead this morning at 9:56 am. I apologize, but I will not be able to respond to any messages at this time. Please direct any questions or offers of assistance via DM to my sister Stacy Michelle We will notify you when further arrangements are made. “
Mia whose full name was Mia Amelia Kanu was born in Southfield, Michigan, on January 25, 2000. She went to Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, Mia attended North Farmington High School. She was a former Camp Counselor at Southfield Parks & Recreation.
About Southfield Parks & Recreation
A new intergovernmental agreement between the cities of Southfield and Oak Park will permit Southfield residents to utilize the Oak Park Pool all summer long at resident rates. The season in 2023 will take place from Saturday, June 10, until Saturday, August 19.
This summer, there will be six “Southfield Days at the Oak Park Pool”! Residents of Southfield can take advantage of free admission, swimming, activities, and refreshments during this special pool hour. On Sunday, June 25, Saturday, July 1, Saturday, July 16, Sunday, July 23, Saturday, July 29, Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 13, Southfield Days are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Oak Park Pool is located at 14300 Oak Park Blvd. (between Greenfield and Coolidge) and features zero-depth entry and a splash zone for the kids to enjoy.
