Pat Casey has been identified as the motorcyclist who died at X Games freestyle motocross track in East County on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Authorities are looking into a motorcyclist’s death at a Ramona X Games freestyle motocross circuit on Tuesday, according to law authorities.
According to a news release from Lt. Daniel Vengler of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened around 2:45 pm along Sutherland Dam Road at Slayground Motocross Park.
Authorities claim that the rider crashed his motorcycle after jumping on the park ramps. The man was given life-saving care by emergency personnel but was subsequently declared dead at 3:42 p.m., according to Cal Fire San Diego.
Although the victim’s identity has not been made public, the sheriff’s office has confirmed that the death was a male in his late twenties. According to the sheriff’s office, more information will likely be disclosed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Axell Hodges, a three-time gold medal winner in the X Games Moto X race, owns the freestyle motocross circuit where the accident occurred, and SkyFOX was above the incident on Tuesday.
Hodges, an Encinitas resident, discussed his 40-acre property with FOX 5 in January 2020. The X Games Moto X events in 2021 and 2022 were held on the “Slayground” as well.
